Jupiter 7 - Identify
Jupiter 7 - Identify

Album Overview
One of the biggest challenges facing the Christian Rapper is producing music that is relevant to both the Church and the Un-Churched, and making music that the streets can feel while sharing a message of Hope, Life and Truth. Identify, the latest release from Hip Hop artist Jupiter 7, in my opinion does a pretty good job of creating music that the streets can feel with lyrics that offer answers and provoke change.
Armed with a rugged, grungy rap vocals and what the artist describes as “organically sown” beats, Jupiter 7 sets out to communicate the truth that each of has a purpose. In his own words “my focus is about speaking honestly about faith, community, life and love ect”. From the soulful intro till the last track, this album was a pleasure to listen to. Although there were a couple of tracks that were instantly my favorite there were no tracks that I disliked. The cd opens with the Intro, which didn’t have any lyrics, so I found myself listening very closely waiting for the artist to come in, which he never did. I found myself wondering if that was done purposely to get the listener to be totally tuned in (because that is what it did for me). As I listened to each track on this Album, I could feel that the artist was speaking from his heart. The beats were smooth and soulful and even inviting, I found myself head nodding through the entire cd. Guest on this project include Big P (Life, Still Alive, War & Find My Way) and Henry G (Still Alive). I think what I like the most is the fact that the artist takes an all out approach when it comes to speaking the truth, not watering things down or simply making music that only church people can feel and relate to. (which by the way is what a lot of Christian Artist feel that they must do in order to gain the Church’s approval)
Spiritual Significance
The songs on Identify collectively spell out that there is a better way, a higher purpose for us. More than just combining Biblical Verses to music, Identify reveals that there is more to life than what we see. All in all this album challenges they way we think about things and points us in the right direction. There is a message in each song and the beauty is that whether you come a church background or you are from the street you will be able to find Spiritual Significance that you can relate to or Identify with. Those who are more Spiritually mature will be able to grasp the deeper messages while those that are still growing will hear truth that they will be able to digest.
