DJ D-Lite, 3rd Coast Fiyah - The Heatwave Vol 2, Redeemed
Dj D-Lite, 3rd Coast Fiyah, The Heatwave vol 2,
Redeemed
Review by mmog37
Album Overview
Before I even start I have four words for ya! PRE ORDER YOURS
NOW! I have mad love for the Christian/Holy Hip Hop DJ, because
through them I have discovered many holy hip hop artists that I probably would
have never been open or bold enough to listen to or have crossed their
paths. DJ D-Lite is one of those DJs, in fact he is one of the few DJs
whose skill and reputation I trust, whose projects I will pick up without
question. [He could put out a nursery rhymes project and I would probably
cop that too] Not only does he have the ability to mxx it up, he also is a
student of the Word, when he is not moonlighting as Damon O singing on other
artist’s tracks. I regularly subscribe to his Third Coast Fiyah podcast, and get
a regular dose of hot music and spiritual encouragement; so, I had an idea
of what to expect, and yet this exceeded my already high expectations.
This CD has been playing virtually non-stop since I got it. DJ D-Lite
teams up with Holy Hip Hop giants such as DJ 1-God & Excelsius aka The Alpha
Project, Dj Skillspinz & Pettidee, K-Nine & B Reith, D-Maub,
Jacob Israel (the geek) & UnCommon, Mark J, Tre-9, Kaleb Starr,
Concrete Evangelist, Octavia Harris & k-Drama and more. There is also
a special appearance by another one of my favorite DJs DJ Wade-O, of Wade-O
Radio show Fame in the Outro, and other Triple H fam on the shout outs.
Heatwave Vol 2 Redeemed is the follow up project to Vol 1 Forgiven, and
all in all this is a solid project. Not only are the tracks hot, but they are
easily understood and can be felt by both the churched and the
un-churched. The tracks are cleverly arranged to take the listener
on a journey steadily building up steam and getting hotter and hotter with each
track. I was impressed with the fact that as the CD draws to a close there
is a metaphoric parallel in the tracks. Tracks like “Why Wait,” reminds us
to not put off for tomorrow what we can do today, no more compromising or being
undecided whereas “Bottom of the Ninth” (K-Nine & B Reith) addresses the
fact that time is running out and that we must get up off our spiritual soft
spots and spread the message before time runs out, and change our focus from
just trying to reach the few people in our circles and try and reach the world.
One of my favorite tracks was “Wita Combination” (Octavia Harris featuring
K-Drama). Talk about a winning combination; Octavia and K-Drama are both holy
hip-hop generals, and this track is definitely a banger. The CD closes with an
Outro featuring DJ Wade-O, (which actually includes a personal invitation for
those who are not yet the redeemed to become so) followed by a bonus
track, a slower jam titled “Just A Myth,” a smooth vocal testimony to the
realness of Jesus Christ; this is one of those tracks that is so smooth and
relatable that it just entices people (like myself) who shouldn’t sing in public
to do so [after a while I got used to the funny looks]. Here’s how
Heatwave Vol 2, Redeemed stacked up: 21 tracks all Hot!

Spiritual Significance
Picking up where volume one left off, moving from being “Forgiven” to the
“Redeemed,” many Christians have a view of the Cross as a finish line rather
than the starting line of a great race, or they view Christianity as merely a
get a “outta hell free card.” This project challenges that line of thinking by
challenging and encouraging the Listener to “Step Ya Game Up” [The Alpha
Project], and take the message of the redeemed to the “Whole Wide World” [D
Maub]. Mark J reminds us of one of the privileges of being redeemed and
that is spending time with God the same way Adam used to in the “Cool of The
Day,” and how that time spent with Him can drown out all of the other voices
that call out to us. This is another one of those projects that will reach
the listener where they are. In the light of the current state of secular
hip-hop, tracks like “What Does It Profit” [Dj Skillspinz & Pettidee] poses
the question of what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul
(Matthew 16:26), while it chronicles the stories of individuals chasing
after the shoes, the girls and the money and the fast life. Track after
track reminds us of what Christ has done for us, who we are in Him and why those
who have not accepted Him should do so without delay.
