Cross Breed Imprints - Bass-n-Worship Vol 1
Album Overview
Okay I thought my Miami type Bass Bangin days were over with, I’m not just talkin about a heavy bass line…I’m talkin about trunk rattlin, mirror shakin, car alarm trippin, subwoofers kickin ya in the back BASS! So imagine my surprise when I popped in the latest cd by Cross Breed Imprints, titled Bass-N-Worship Vol 1. I copped the cd at an event hosted by the UGA St Louis, from a young artist who goes by the name of Antha “RedNote” Rodgers. I had just caught his performance and the Brotha was on point. I was impressed with His boldness and his transparent honesty as he ministered to the crowd, flowin from an acapella praise song right into an upbeat bangin track titled “Thy Word” a modern day/hip hop version of Psalm 119:105 with a sick Native American Hip Hop style hook. I was grinnin from ear to ear as I bumped this cd all the way home. This project featured the musical/production talents of some of St Louis’ and HHH’s finest Jeremiah “Kry” Jackson, THI’Sl, Wide Range, Chike, JR, B.U.M.M. (Boding Under My Master) and Dj Wannablessu.
Bass -N- Worship Vol 1, boasts 20 hot tracks divided into two parts, Bass and Worship. The first ten tracks “Bass” are strictly heavy bass laden tracks minus the lyrics, something you can vibe out to as you are chillin, or ridin around town. (If you are like me I do some of my best thinkin/reflectin/conversatin with God while listening to music and I was feelin all 10 of these tracks.) Unlike the old Miami base songs from back in the day, it felt good to bang these without having to hear a bunch of raunchy lyrics.
The second half of the CD, “Worship”, contains 10 fat tracks loaded with tight music and Worship centered, infectious attention getting lyrics or as RedNote describes it “Praise and Verseship!” This half of the cd has it all, mellow reflective worship tracks {My Dear featuring Nethra Denise, You Don’t Owe Me featuring Shatiah] and even some all out Christian Crunk Style Worship bangas! [Riddle Me This featuring RedNote and Wide Range] heres a snapshot of the track listing and artist featured:

Spiritual Significance
The crowning point of Christianity is the fact that God loves us so much that He gave His one and Only Son as a Ransom for us, and when we come to the realization of this our lives are renewed changed and transformed. This Cd is a testament to that realization. I absolutely loved the way the tracks were listed on the back of the CD it says it all ”
“Right Now” I have Faith in “Thy Word” because your “Grace & Mercy” compelled you to “Bleed,” I’m yours! “You Don’t Owe Me,” and this is “Why I” thirst for you through “Salvation,” Therefore “Riddle Me This” no longer…”My Dear!” Now I greatly see that “There is None” like you.”

Topics Covered
This CD covered some of the basics of Christianity, from having a Right Now type of Faith [Right Now], to allowing the Word of God to be the Light and Direction of our lives [Thy Word] to realizing the Beauty and Glory of God’s Grace & Mercy toward us. One of my favorites is definitely “You Don’t Owe Me” featuring Shatiah, this soulful worship ballad really spoke to me, a lot of people tend to have a Janet Jackson attitude when it comes to God “what have you done for me lately?”, but this song was a reminder that God doesn’t owe us anything at all and that He truly is a deserving King, if anything it is we who owe Him everything! Here’s a breakdown of some of the topics covered by track:
Trusting God Right Now, believing and Obeying His Word Right Now and Walking by Faith [Right Now]
A modern day version of Psalm 119, very relevant to the Hip Hop era Christian [Thy Word]
The realization of the Beauty of God’s Grace and Mercy toward us, even when we were found to be unworthy and undeserving, a beautiful worship song [Grace & Mercy]
Realization that Jesus saw fit to Bleed on our behalf and restore us back to God [Bleed]
He is the King, He doesn’t owe us…we owe Him [You Don't Owe Me]
No Drug Drink or Vice can compare to Him [There is None]
Final Thoughts
This is definitely a CD you need to copp and add to your collection. Each song on this Cd will without a doubt Bless you, but even more it is such an open and honest cd that even a non-believer will be able to hear the un-compromised Gospel of Jesus come through loud and clear in terms and in a manner that they can feel (relate to).
