Every Nation…
Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”-Matthew 28:19, The Message Translation
Whether it’s the suburbs, the slums, the ghetto or even a shanty town or village, we have been commissioned to reach every nation. As believers our mission is not just to make sure the Gospel Message is preached, but we are also called to “make disciples.” In Matthew 28:19, Jesus made this quite clear. God desires to reach “ALL” of mankind, [John 3:16] and even though there are those that will reject His most generous offer, He still attempts to reach them. Our job is to follow in the footsteps of His Son Jesus, who was sent here on the behalf of “ALL” mankind, not just those who we deem worthy.
All of us may not have received a call to preach & proclaim from the pulpit, but we are “ALL” called to reach “every nation” and “make disciples. For those of you reading this and thinking that you don’t have the means to travel the world, don’t worry, as T.H.I.S.L. says in the song “Urban Missionary” there are people that need to be reached in your own backyard. Time is getting short and the days are getting darker, let’s reach and disciple as many as we can…while we still can!
